(SEDRO WOOLLEY, WA.) – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is seeking witnesses to a two car fatality crash that happened in Skagit County two days ago.
On Monday June 18th WSP Troopers responded to the crash at 25760 Minkler Road, about 2.5 miles east of Sedro Woolley.
“The preliminary investigation shows that the causing vehicle was traveling westbound on Minkler Road at a high rate of speed and struck a vehicle that was traveling eastbound turning onto Peavey Road. The causing vehicle became engulfed in flames and one of the passengers of that vehicle was killed,” said a WSP statement issued yesterday.
The person who died in the crash has since been identified as 45-year old Jonathan J. Harju of Camano Islan, WA. He was a passenger in a blue 2000 BMW 528 sedan that was in the accident.

The state patrol report on the accident says a dark Blue 2000 BMW 528 was westbound on Minkler Road “at a high rate fo speed” while a gray 1999 GMC Sierra pickuo was eastbound on the same road and was turning onto Peavey Road when the BMW crashed into the GMC pickup.
The force of impact caused the GMC to roll over while the BMW burst into flames and became fully engulfed. Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
