(HAMILTON, WA.) – The Washington State Patrol says a Skagit County woman died this weekend when the motor scooter she was riding crashed into a guard rail.
The accident happened just before 4:30 pm Saturday afternoon on Baker Lake Road (SR20) about 3 miles from the small Skagit County town of Hamilton.
The WSP report says a gray 2012 Vespa LXS150 motor scooter was traveling west on Baker Road when it “continued straight and left the roadway as it curved...hit the guardrail and the driver was ejected off the scooter.”
Killed was the rider identified as 58-year old Shannon M. Shipley of Sedro Woolley, Washington. The patrol report lists the cause of the accident as “speed too fast for conditions.”
The rider was wearing a USDOT compliant helmet, according to the WSP.
