Skagit County man loses his life when car veers off Highway 20
March 14, 2018

Chronicle Staff

(LYMAN, WA.) -- The Washington State Patrol says a man from Concrete, Washington lost his life Monday night when his car veered off a highway in Skagit county.

The accident happened about 6:15 pm Monday evening on State Route 20/The North Cascades Highway in the small town of Lyman.

The patrol report says a maroon 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser was traveling eastbound on SR 20 near the far east end of Lyman when, for reasons not known, the car veered off the highway to the north at Pipeline Road, went about 400 feet through grass and brush then crashed into a tree and came to rest about 100 feet off the roadway.

Killed was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, 65-year old John D. O'Hern of Concrete, in Skagit County. The vehicle was totaled by the impact with the tree.

The patrol report says the cause of the accident is under investigation.
