Shooting victim in Burien dies, incident now a homicide probe

(BURIEN, WA.) -- The King County Sheriff's office says a victim of a weekend shooting in Burien has died and the incident has now become a homicide investigation.
The victim, a 56-year old man from the Seattle area was shot in the 13600 block of 1st Avenue South on Sunday morning March 18. Just after 1:00 am that day a passerby was driving on 1st Avenue South and heard a gun shot. he then saw a man lying on the shoulder of the road.
The shooter was described by the witness only as a male in dark clothing. he was seen walking/running away from the scene.
Sheriff's officers and detectives arrived on-scene quickly and found a male lying unresponsive on the side of the road. "Deputies provided CPR to the victim, while they waited for medics to arrive. Once the Medics arrived they continued life saving measures and transported the victim to Harborview Hospital in critical condition," said a sheriff's office statement.
An extensive K9 track was conducted for the suspect, but he was not located. On Tuesday detectives learned the victim had died from the gunshot wound he sustained Sunday night. The sheriff's office Major Crime’s unit is leading the investigation into the case.
