Seven are injured, two vehicles totaled in Skagit County on SR 20
State patrol says one vehicle flew right past stop sign

(HAMILTON, WA.) – Just before 7:15 pm last night in Skagit County there was a brutal two-vehicle crash about a mile and a half east of the tiny village of Hamilton.

An SUV and a pickup truck were totaled by the impact and seven people were injured, according to the state patrol.

The patrol report says a gold 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was northbound on Pinelli Road approaching State Route 20 and a gold 2008 Chevrolet Suburban SUV was eastbound on SR 20 approaching the same road when the Silverado pickup truck blew right past a stop sign, entered SR 20 and smashed into the Chevy suburban.

Both rigs were totaled by the impact. The patrol report says injured were:

~ The driver of the Silverado pickup truck, identified as 47-year old Justin J. Rodgers of Sedro Woolley, WA. Transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

~ A juvenile of unknown sex and age, a passenger in the pickup truck, also transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

~ Donald L. Olmstead, 41, of Concrete, WA the driver of the Chevy Suburban SUV, transported to Skagit Valley Hospital.

~ A juvenile of unknown sex and age, a passenger in the Suburban also transported to Skagit Valley Hospital.

~ A second juvenile of unknown sex and age, a passenger in the Suburban also transported to Skagit Valley Hospital.

~ A third juvenile of unknown sex and age, a passenger in the Suburban also transported to Skagit Valley Hospital.

~ A fourth juvenile of unknown sex and age, a passenger in the Suburban also transported to Skagit Valley Hospital.

The patrol report says cause of the crash was, “Failure to yield at stop sign/driving under the influence.” The report says vehicular assault and DUI charges were to be filed against the driver of Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
