May 19, 2018

(SEATTLE, WA.) – The Washington State Patrol says a Seattle woman died in a single vehicle high speed crash in downtown Seattle on Interstate 5.

The crash happened just after 3 am this (Saturday) morning southbound on I-5 just north of James St.

The patrol report says a silver 1998 Acura CL two-door was traveling southbound on the freeway approaching Union Street in lane one at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the car causing it to crash into a concrete wall on the right.

The car came to a stop in lane one, totaled by the impact. The roadway was blocked for five hours.

Killed was a passenger, a 44-year old woman from Seattle whose name was withheld pending notification of family.

Injured and taken to Harborview Medical Center was the driver, identified as 38-year old Ricky A. Harrison of Portland, Oregon.

The patrol report states that drugs or alcohol are thought to be factors in the fatal crash.

The cause is under investigation.
