Searchers spend second day trying to find missing snowboarders near Mt. Baker
November 15, 2017

(BELLINGHAM, WA.) -- Search and rescue personnel near Mount Baker spent a second day Tuesday searching the back country area for two missing snowboarders.

The two men had been expected to return home Sunday night after spending the day boarding near the upper parking lot of Mt. Baker.

The parking lot was checked by sheriff's deputies and theior car was found but they were not.

A group of volunteer search and rescue people along with members of the Border Patrol Search & Rescue checked areas Monday and Tuesday thought most likely to be used by back country ski and board enthusiasts but the men were not found.

Tuesday snowmobiles joined in the search. The weather was bad on Monday with high wind and heavy snow with white out conditions hitting about 4 pm on Monday.

In the forecast is much more heavy snow for the area, up to 30 inches possible.
