President Trump's pubic approval rating remains in basement
You'd have to go back to Harry S. Truman to find a more unpopular President

November 05, 2017

President Donald Trump: dismal approval ratings from American Public as he approaches one year mark.

(NATIONAL)  --  The American public has handed Donald Trump a report card as he nears the end of his first year as resident and it's not a good one.

According to a newly published Washington Post-ABC News survey Trump has an apporval rating much lower than any previous President at this point in a presidency -- and that is over seven decades of polling.

Less than 4 in 10 Americans, just 37%, say they approve of the way Trump is handling his respnsibilities. The poll was done Oct. 29 to Nov. 1 among a random national sample of 1,005 adults reached on cell and landline phones.

Some items from the poll:

....... Trump has succeeded in satisfying voters who elected him president but very few other Americans. Voters who supported Trump continue to be overwhelmingly supportive, with 91 percent approving of his performance, including 69 percent “strongly.” A still larger 95 percent of Clinton voters disapprove of him. Among those who supported neither candidate — or did not vote — 24 percent approve of Trump while 68 percent disapprove.

....... Trump’s approval rating has changed little over the past four months, which have included major events, from hurricanes to indictments in special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation into the role Russia played in the 2016 Presidential campaign.

.......The president’s disapproval rating has reached 59 percent, with 50 percent saying they strongly disapprove of the job he is doing. Both those numbers constitutes the worst marks of his presidency.

.......Trump is the only president dating back to Harry S. Truman whose approval rating at this point in his presidency is "net negative" (by 22 points).

.......On what Trump has accomplished: only 35% say Trump has accomplished a great deal or a good amount in office. Roughly 100 days into office that figure stood at 42 percent. A whopping 65 percent say he has accomplished “not much” or “little or nothing.” That figure is up from 56 percent last spring. Forty-three percent of all Americans give him the lowest possible rating, saying he has accomplished “little or nothing.”

.......At the 100-day mark of Trump’s presidency, 44 percent said Trump was keeping most of his campaign promises, 41% said he was not. Today 55 percent say he is not keeping most of those promises.

.......Trump gets very low ratings on race relations and health care. Fewer than 30% say he's done a good job dealing with race relations - a figure that is 12 points below the 40 percent who said in January they thought he would handle race issues effectively - and half of all Americans say they believe Trump is biased against black people. Slightly more (55 percent) say he is biased against women.
