Police car totaled in Kitsap County collision

(KITSAP COUNTY, WA.) -- The city of Port Orchard is down one police car today following a collision Wednesday morning that turned it into junkyard metal.
A state patrol report says the two-car accident happened just after 10:00 am at Sidney Avenue & Lippert Drive West in Port Orchard.
A white 2017 Ford Expedition SUV was stopped at a stop sign on Lippert Drive West & Sidney Avenue, waiting to make a left turn onto Sidney.
A marked Port Orchard Police vehicle, a 2017 Ford Explorer SUV was southbound on Sidney when all of a sudden the Ford Expedition pulled out in front of the police SUV, causing the police car to run into the Ford Expedition, according to the state patrol report.
Both vehicles were totaled by the impact and the roadway was blocked for about four hours.
Injured but not taken to a hospital was the driver of the white Ford Expedition identified as 28-year old Carolina S. Holguin of Port Orchard.
The driver of the police SUV, identified as 49-year old David Walker was injured and transported to a nearby hospital by aid car.
The patrol report says the cause of the accident was failure to yield right of way on the part of the Ford Expedition driver.
