BREAKING NEWS | | PREACHER SAYS HE WON’T BURN COPIES OF KORAN THEN SAYS HES NOT SURE HE WON’T September 10, 2010

(GAINESVILLE, FLA) -- An obscure Florida fundamentalist Christian preacher who’s entire congregation is just 50 people – and who has a real problem with the Muslim religion - backed off Thursday on his plans to a hold a bonfire using copies of the Koran as fuel for the fire.
Terry Jones then later threatened to reconsider his burning on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, saying a Muslim leader lied to him Thursday with a promise to move a proposed Islamic center away from New York's ground zero.
The Muslim imam planning the center denied there was ever such a deal.
Jones has generated an international backlash with his plan to burn the Koran on Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
President Barack Obama urged him to listen to "those better angels" and give up his "stunt," saying it would endanger U.S. troops and give Islamic terrorists a recruiting tool. Defense Secretary Robert Gates took the extraordinary step of calling Jones personally.
