Oregon passes gun control bill aimed at domestic abusers & stalkers
February 23, 2018
(SALEM, ORE.) – Oregon Governor Kate Brown will sign a bill the state’s legislature sent her Thursday to ban convicted domestic abusers and stalkers from buying or owning guns.
A report by The Oregonian says Brown had praise for lawmakers who passed the bill, saying it will keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people, adding that bipartisan support for the proposal in Oregon reflects many Americans' desire for more restrictions on owning guns.
The newspaper report says Thursday's final approval of the bill by the Legislature marked the first time since the deadly school shooting last week in Parkland, Florida, that a state legislature has passed a gun-control measure.
