Typhoon Haiyan storm surge washing away house in seconds

(EASTERN SAMAR, PHILIPINE ISLANDS) -- New video has surfaced showing the Tsunami like destructive power of a the tidal surge generated by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

The video clip below was shot by Nickson Gensis, a worker for the Plan International charity in the Philippines. He had sought refuge on the top floor of a boarding house in Hernani, Eastern Samar, and continued filming while other onlookers were praying.

In comments reported on the Plan International website, Nickson said the storm surge had been "like a huge tsunami".

The footage below was shot at 6am on Friday November 8 as the storm hit Hernani.
