Monroe Police recover three stolen vehicles
in one day

January 17, 2018

Chronicle staff

(MONROE, WA.) -- Monroe Police had a pretty productive recovery day Tuesday, reeling in three stolen rigs in one day.

It started at 9:15 am Tuesday morning when an officer from the Monroe Police Department Proactive Enforcement (ProAct) team spotted the first of three stolen vehicles.

This one was a 2016 Audi Crossover SUV that was spotted in the 300 block of S Kelsey St, left abandoned. The car had been reported stolen out of the Magnolia area in Seattle. Police impounded it to the Monroe Police Department pending a search warrant.

Then at 1:15 pm Tuesday the same officer spotted another stolen rig, this time occupied by three people. "A high risk stop was conducted near the 7-11 on Main Street with several responding officers," according to a police statement. The occupants were taken out of the car one by one and questioned.

This vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet Prizm had been reported stolen in Sultan, just east of Monroe and was also impounded pending a search warrant.

Two passengers in the car were released at the scene while the driver was released to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s office, the agency that took the stolen report.

Then at about 4:00 pm, another officer in the ProAct team located an occupied stolen vehicle in the Walmart store parking lot.

A "female occupant drove to pick up a male that was walking out of the store," according to the police statement. Officers stopped the vehicle, a 2004 Dodge Neon which had been reported stolen in Everett.

This vehicle was also impounded to the Monroe Police Department, pending a search warrant.
