Man with gun suirrenders after stand off with police in Skyway
(SKYWAY, WA.) -- The King County Sheriff's office says an unidentified man is in custody after an overnight standoff with deputies in Skyway that started when the man threatened responding medics with a rifle.
Skyway, a culturally diverse community in the county of about 15,000 residents lies in an unincorporated "donut hole" roughly between the cities of Seattle, Tukwila and Renton.
The incident began early Thursday at a residence near South 120th Place and 70th Avenue South, according to Seattlepi.com.
Medics had responded to a call from a woman to help her son, a man in his early 20s.
The report says when medics got there the man refused treatment and threatened the medics with a rifle. They then exited the scene and sheriff's deputes responded, later to be backed up by sheriff's office SWAST team members, according to the repoirt.
