Man accused of trying to grab 13-year old girl in Auburn charged with attempted kidnapping
June 12, 2018

Chronicle Staff

(AUBURN, WA.) – At court hearing on Monday, a man with a reported criminal history was charged with attempted kidnapping of a 13-year old girl in Auburn, according to KOMO-TV in Seattle.

The suspect, Victor Paz-Fajardo was ordered held on $100,000 bail. He’s scheduled to make his next court appearance on Wednesday, according to the TV report.

The alleged attempted kidnapping occurred about 9:30 am last Friday when the girl was walking to school and said she noticed a man in a truck following her down the street.

A video taken in the area shows a driver pull up next to her in his truck. The girl said she told the man no when he asked if she wanted a ride.

The truck drove off but then doubled back, stopped next to her and the driver got out and attempted to to grab her. The girl took off running, went to a nearby property, hid and called 911 on her phone.

The TV report says Auburn Police got hold of a nearby surveillance video and were able to get a license plate on the truck and that night arrested Paz-Fajardo during a traffic stop.

The suspect has denied trying to abduct the girl.
