MUSIC STAR GIVES TEENS CHANCE AT DIRECTING HIS NEXT VIDEO
December 16, 2008

Usher has contest to let teens direct his next music video.
(HOLLYWOOD, CA) -- R & B singing/songwriting star Usher is giving aspiring video directors the chance of a lifetime. Starting today and through January 31st, the singer is hosting a contest to give 13- to 18-year-olds the opportunity to gain real-life experience shooting a video for him.

By logging onto Got-Noise.com, teens with any level of experience can apply for the contest, sponsored by the Body by Milk campaign.

In March, contestants will be selected and flown to Los Angeles to work in one of two teams. The teams will have one week to put together an original concept for Usher's next video. Usher will be around to offer the contestants any advice they need.

"I am so excited to be the first artist involved with the Body by Milk/ Got Noise? music video program, as it gives me another way to give back, inspire young people and also reinvent music videos," Usher said in a statement. "It also sends out a message to my fans about the importance of healthy living. That's something I believe in and want teens to recognize."

In April, the two videos will make their debut, and fans can watch and vote for the winner. The winning team members will get a VIP package including tickets to an Usher concert, new Apple laptops and editing software.

Usher and his wife, Tameka Raymond, just welcomed their second son, Naviyd Ely Raymond, on Wednesday of last week. The couple also has a 1-year-old, Usher Raymond V.

Usher Raymond IV (born October 14, 1978), known simply by his first name Usher, is a world-renowned American R & B/Pop singer-songwriter and actor who rose to fame in the 1990s.

To date he has sold approximately 35 million albums worldwide and has won five Grammy Awards. In September Usher was ranked into the All time Hot 100 Artists by Billboard magazine. He is one of the few artists of his generation to be mentioned.

Usher also established his own record label, US Records, and is a part owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball franchise.
