MONROE MAN CHARGED IN TWO CRASHES ON HY 2
August 08, 2008

(EVERETT, WA) -- A Monroe man has been charged with causing two vehicle accidents on Highway 2 in one night last month.

Since the accidents on the night of July 11, thirty-two year old Matthew Jordan of Monroe has been recovering in a Seattle hospital from multiple injuries sustained in the collisions. On Monday of this week Jordan was moved from a hospital bed in Seattle to a jail bed in Everett.

He was being held in the Snohomish County Jail with bail set at $100,000 for parole violations and for investigation of vehicular assault.

Washington State Patrol officers said that after crashing his Toyota into the back of a Ford SUV on Highway 2 near Sultan, both vehicles then pulled into a nearby service station ostensibly to exchange insurance and other ID information.

When the driver of the SUV began to call 911 to report the accident, the driver said Jordan drove off in his car. The driver of the SUV told officers the man who rammed his vehicle smelled of alcohol and seemed to be intoxicated.

Just a few minutes later on Highway 2 near the Fern Bluff road junction troopers say Jordon’s car crossed over the centerline and rammed head on into a Buick driven by a teenager from Sultan. The Buick was carrying two teenagers.

One of the teenagers was seriously injured with broken bones and lacerations. She was taken to Harborview for treatment.
