Kirkland police shoot and kill man with gun
December 20, 2017

(KIRKLAND, WA.) -- Kirkland Police say a man with a gun was shot and killed by an officer Tuesday night at the Emerson Apartments in Kirkland.

KING-TV, which first reported the shooting said it happened just before 5 p.m. in the 11000 block of NE 114th Lane where officers had originally responded to reports of screaming and "possible shots fired" in an apartment complex.

Details of the confrontation between the officers and the man with the gun were not immediately available but one Kirkland police officer reportedly fired his weapon, hitting the man who died at the scene.

The TV report said police "recovered an assault rifle" at the scene but it was not clear if the man who was shot had fired it at officers.

Another broadcast report said according to witnesses, the event appears to have stemmed from some type of domestic argument and that when officers arrived the man with the gun confronted them outside the apartment.
