King County Cops Looking For This Unique Pickup Truck
In hit & run that badly injured bike rider

July 15, 2018

CLICK TO ENLARGE: Images of the pickup truck police are looing for
(SEATTLE, WA.) – The King County Sheriff’s office says a bicyclist was hit and injured by a pickup truck while riding southbound on Rainier Ave South yesterday.

That truck, occupied by two black males, then “fled the scene leaving the cyclist in the roadway with serious injuries,” says a King County Sheriff’s office statement.

It happened Saturday July 14 about 4:30 pm. The man on the bike was riding south in the 10600 block of Rainier Ave South.

“He was obeying all traffic laws, was wearing a helmet and was in the designated bike lane when he was hit from behind,” said King County Sheriff Sgt. William Akers. “He was thrown from the bike and suffered serious injuries. He was transported to Harborview Hospital in Seattle and at this time his condition is unknown. The victim is believed to be about 50 years old.”

The pickup truck that hit him left the scene “with the bike wedged into the front bumper.”

The truck turned right onto South Lakeridge Dr. where the bike became dislodged. The vehicle is described as an early to mid 1980s GMC or Chevrolet pickup, red with a white stripe running from front to back.

It also has “a homemade wooden structure built on the bed to increase cargo capacity.” It appears to be made out of 2 X 4 lumber.

Detectives from the King County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Response & Reconstruction (MARR) Unit are requesting the public’s help to identify the driver and passenger of the suspect vehicle.

Callers can remain anonymous. If you have any information on the identity of the suspects, please call 206-296-3311 or 911.
