FIRE ON LAKE UNION DESTROYS SEVERAL BOATS
July 05, 2013

(SEATTLE, WA) -- A late night fire at a boat storage facility on Lake Union in Seattle destroyed several boats Thursday night.

The fire was reported shortly after 10:00 pm at the Lake Union Sky Launch Marina located in the 2500 block of North Northlake Way.

When firefighters arrived they were able to control the fire in a matter of minutes but not before it damaged or destroyed several boats that were docked there.

There were no reports of injuries and the cause is under investigation.

A report by KOMO-TV in Seattle quoted an owner of a boat at the facility, who was nearby when the fire started, as saying a stray firework appeared to spark the blaze.
