BREAKING NEWS | | EXTREMISTS ATTACK WORLD VISION OFFICE IN PAKISTAN, KILL AT LEAST 5 March 10, 2010

(PAKISTAN) — Men armed with grenades attacked the offices of World Vision in northwest Pakistan Wednesday.
World Vision is a nationally known Federal Way based international aid group. Killed were at least five Pakistanis who worked for the organization.
The attack evidently targeted World Vision specifically. World Vision is a Christian humanitarian group that has been helping survivors of the 2005 Kashmir earthquake.
The dead in Wednesday's attack, all Pakistanis, included two women. Seven World Vision employees were hospitalized and one was missing. "World Vision today is mourning the brutal and senseless deaths of five members of our staff in the Mansehra District of Pakistan after an unprovoked attack by gunmen," the group said in a news release.
World Vision said it received no threats before the attack. It has suspended its operations in Pakistan.
Al-Qaida, the Taliban and associated groups are strong in northwestern Pakistan, but Mansehra lies outside the area where the extremists have their main bases.
