Cold weather shelter open in Snohomish
November 06, 2017



(SNOHOMISH, WA.) -- Whenever temperatures drop below freezing, volunteers open a Cold Weather Shelter at the Snohomish Evangelical Free Church, located at 210 Avenue B.

The shelter is open to families, men, and women who are in need of a warm place to sleep for the night, according to a statement from the city.

They also have crates for animals, should guests have a pet. The shelter operates whenever temperatures drop below 34 degrees from Nov. 1 through February 28.

People interested in volunteering to help run the shelter can sign up for a free training class:

      Saturday, Nov. 4, 10 a.m. - noon,
      Monday Nov. 6- 8 pm,
      Saturday, Dec. 2, 10 a.m. - noon
      Monday, Dec. 4, 6 - 8 pm.

Training sessions are held at the Shelter, 210 Avenue B, Snohomish.

When the shelter is open, guests check in between the hours of 8 pm and 9:30 pm.

Hot beverages and cup-of-noodles are available along with breakfast in the morning.

Check out is at 8 a.m. This church is on the Community Transit bus line. Pastor Rick Sickles and his congregation graciously share the use of their basement for the shelter.
