Camano Island man dies in single car crash in Snohomish County

(STANWOOD, WA.) -- The Washington State Patrol says a Camano Island, Washington man lost his life when he lost control of his car on State Route 531 in Snohomish County.
The accident happened Saturday March 10th on SR 531 about 9 miles south of the city of Stanwood.
The patrol report says a beige 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling westbound on SR 531 about 4:37 pm Saturday approaching 34th Ave. NW when the driver, for reasons unknown lost control of the vehicle after which it rotated clockwise and left the roadway on the south side, rolled over and came to a stop about 20 feet off the highway against a tree.
Killed was the driver and sole occupant of the car, 75-year old Lowell R. Jenkins of Camano Island. The car was totaled. The patrol report says the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
The report says Jenkins was not wearing a seat belt at the time of impact.
