Buy A Xmas Tree,

Chronicle staff

(REGIONAL)  --  So, you need a Xmas tree yes? Why not buy a tree and help a local salmon or two at the same time.

The good folks over at the Adopt A Stream Foundation have personally requested the mighty Chronicle inform you that this year the foundation is selling "Live & Wild" Holiday Trees for Salmon at the Northwest Stream Center Wednesdays through Sundays starting December 6 and running through December 24.

Hours are 10 am to 3 pm. We're told by the powers that be that there will be fine selection of live 3 to 5 foot high Sitka Spruce, Western Red Cedar and Douglas Fir trees that are in pots and ranging in price from $40 to $60.

And, "After the holidays, all trees returned to the Northwest Stream Center will be planted next to local streams to help out next year's salmon runs," says Adopt A Stream Foundation Director Tom Murdoch.

Now how cool is that?

The Northwest Stream Center is located in Snohomish County's McCollum Park, at 600 - 128th St. SE in Everett, WA 98208.

During December, you can also enjoy free admission to the beautiful 20-acre forest and wetland complex at the Center and take a 1/2 mile stroll past aTrout Stream Exhibit onto an Elevated Nature Trail that's just above the forest floor and surrounding wetlands.

It's a beautiful place to be and is universally accessible.
