(BREMERTON, WA.) — A Bremerton orthopedic surgeon who allegedly had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old foreign exchange student from Hungary during her visit to the states, has been charged with first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor.
The Kitsap County Prosecuting Attorney’s office filed the charge, a felony, against Dr. Larry Dean Iversen, 73, on October 4th, according to the Kitsap Daily News
Iversen's arraignment on the charge is scheduled for November 16 in Kitsap County Superior Court. The newspaper reported that Iversen's attorney, Tim Kelly of Port Orchard, said that his client will plead not guilty.
First-degree sexual misconduct with a minor, a Class C felony, is punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine upon a conviction.
The newspaper report says, according to charging documents, Iversen told a sheriff’s detective he met the teenage girl from Hungary during an earlier exchange visit to this area last year through the East Bremerton Rotary Club, of which Iversen was a member.
