FOUR INJURED IN U.S. HY 2 CRASH NEAR BARING

(US HY 2 AT BARING, WA) -- A grinding head on collision on U.S. highway 2 near Baring yesterday sent four people to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Washington State Patrol says the accident happened just before 3:00 pm Thursday when a small Ford Escort crossed over the centerline while on a curve and smashed into a strike a Cadillac headed in the other direction.

The driver of the Ford, identified as 17-year old William Keyser of Wenatchee, was airlifted by chopper to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with head injuries.

The driver of the of the other vehicle, identified as 65-year old Doris Papka of Arlington, was taken by ambulance to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett also with serious injuries.

Two passengers in Papka's Cadillac, identified as 64-year old Keith Papka and 74-year old Elizabeth Smith both of Arlington, were taken to Valley General Hospital in Monroe with less sever injuries.

Cause of the accident is not yet known.
