(EVERETT,WA) -- Snohomish County will offer individuals free waste disposal of flood-damaged household goods at county solid waste facilities. County Executive Aaron Reardon proposed the fee waiver Friday, and the County Council approved the measure Monday.

NEW WEB SITE ESTABLISHED TO HELP COUNTY UNEMPLOYED

(EVERETT, WA) -- There’s a new on line resource for unemployed workers in Snohomish County. The new website www.helpforhardtimes.org is produced by a coalition of public and private agencies including United Way of Snohomish County and is designed to help Snohomish County residents deal with the challenges of unemployment.

SULTAN SAYS BYE-BYE LOCAL POLICE AND HELLO COUNTY

(SULTAN, WA) -- After years of contentious debate, on going friction between a former police chief and two mayors and following a number of accounting and fiscal management issues over the years the Sultan city council voted unanimously last night to eliminate its local police force in favor of a contract for law enforcement services with the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.

BRACE FOR FLOODS IN SKY VALLEY: STORM FRONTS MOVE IN

November 12, 2008

(SKY VALLEY) -- The first inkling that heavy rains caused by storm systems were going to cause problems in the Sky Valley and other locations near rivers in Western Washington came just after 6:00 a.m. this morning when the National Weather Service issued flood warnings that projected near 2006 record flood levels in the Skykomish-Snohomish river basin.

(SNOHOMISH COUNTY) -- The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for the Sky Valley and general Snohomish county area at 4:19am this morning. The flood watch remains in effect from 4:00 p.m. this afternoon through Late Wednesday evening.
