(REGIONAL) -- In what has become over the years almost a rite of passage that runs in tandem with the July 4th weekend, fires started by fireworks over the holiday period burned four homes in the area leaving in their wake more than $1 Million dollars in damages.

(WASHINGTON, DC) -- Instead of celebrating the Fourth of July at home with fireworks and barbecues, some 1500 to 2,000 anti-tax, small-government protesters rallied outside the U.S. Capitol Saturday.

(OLYMPIA,WA) -- The State Fire Marshall’s office says that in 2008 there were 785 fireworks-related incidents in Washington resulting in more than $200,000 in property loss.
