|HEYBROOK RIDGE SAVED: WILL BECOME COUNTY PARK|

(INDEX, WA) -- Heybrook Ridge, just above Index has been saved from the clear cutter’s chain saws. The Snohomish County Council is scheduled to vote Monday to spend $700,000 in county conservation funds to help buy the 130 acres of mature forest land on Heybrook Ridge to save it from clear-cut logging.

(EVERETT, WA) -- A sportswriter for the The Herald newspaper based in Everett has been suspended from work pending a company investigation into charges he lifted portions of a recent column he wrote. Newspaper officials say Herald sportswriter John Sleeper used material from a six-year old magazine story and passed off that information as his own work.

(SULTAN, WA) -- Sultan Basin Road will be closed between US Highway 2 and 142nd Street SE beginning September 5, 2008 and continuing through October 7, 2008 to extend the sidewalk on the west side of Sultan Basin Road.

After a year of planning the city of Monroe celebrates the opening of its new off-leash dog park, Wiggly Field, this Saturday July 19 at Sky River Park at 413 Sky River Parkway. The opening celebration is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
