|U.S. HIGHWAY 2 LANE CLOSURES NEAR INDEX BEGIN TODAY|

(INDEX, WA) – Drivers heading over Highway 2 may experience single-lane closures on the busy highway near Index starting today. Construction crews will be working there on a $2.9 Million dollar project making permanent repairs to a segment of the highway that sank about seven feet during major flooding in 2006. Work on the major project is expected to continue through November

(U.S. HIGHWAY 2) -- The Washington State Department of Transportation reports that US Highway 2 will be reduced to one lane of traffic Eastbound from milepost 62 after 4 miles west of Stevens Pass Summit at Tunnel Creek Bridge up to the Stevens Pass Summit starting 7:09 AM starting tomorrow, Monday, and lasting until 5:09 PM November 14 due to construction work from milepost 62 to milepost 65.
|WSDOT NUMBERS SHOW LABOR DAY TRAFFIC DOWN FROM 2007|

(OLYMPIA, WA) – Predictions were just about right fro the 2008 Labor Day weekend as travel numbers show just a slight dip in traffic in most locations from Labor Day 2007. Volumes on I-90 Snoqualmie Pass, I-5 north of Seattle and south of Olympia dropped slightly from 2007. However, it was here in the Sky Valley over US Highway 2 that saw the largest traffic decline, 9 percent.

(SEATTLE, WA) -- With the national economy slowing and as job lay offs in some areas and industries increase, Sky Valley residents who work for Boeing have good reasons to hope the company and its largest workers’ union come to a settlement soon on a contract.
