(NATION) – Despite the soaring costs of attending American colleges and universities, their students are receiving an education that falls far short of the one experienced by earlier generations.

The sharp increase in costs is clear enough. Between 1978 and 2013, American college tuition rose by 1,120 percent, and became the major source of revenue for higher education. Traditionally, most public colleges and universities had no tuition or very low tuition.

(NATIONAL) – There’s an interesting report over at Newsweek.com that says some gambling oddsmakers and a columnist for The Washington Post have suggested that President Trump’s son-inlaw Jared Kushner could be the mystery White House senior administration official behind that anonymous New York Times op-ed that talks about a “resistance” within the Trump administration working to curb the wildest inclinations of the President.

Portland Man Gets 63 Months in Federal Prison for Extorting Child Pornographers

(PORTLAND, ORE.) – Andre Eugene Shaw, 34, of Portland, was sentenced on Thursday to 63 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for “extorting child pornographers for money and services,” according to a statement released by the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
