(SEATTLE, WA.) -- While president elect Donald Trump was busy preparing to take the oath of office today as the nation's 45th President, tens of thousands of other people around the country and here in Washington state were making preparations for demonstrations against Mr. Trump's inauguration as president.

(EVERETT, WA.) -- Ambitious young scientists at local schools will be putting their best skills to work this year with help from Snohomish County Public Utility District (PUD).
The utility recently awarded 13 mini-grants for science education projects in several school districts. In the process, students will learn about solar energy, electrical circuits, hydropower, energy conservation and other topics.
The grants help schools incorporate energy and water education into their curriculum. The following teachers and schools received support for the 2016-2017 school year:
