County Public Utility District Awards Mini-Grants for Science Projects in Local Schools

(EVERETT, WA.) -- Ambitious young scientists at local schools will be putting their best skills to work this year with help from Snohomish County Public Utility District (PUD).

The utility recently awarded 13 mini-grants for science education projects in several school districts. In the process, students will learn about solar energy, electrical circuits, hydropower, energy conservation and other topics.

The grants help schools incorporate energy and water education into their curriculum. The following teachers and schools received support for the 2016-2017 school year:

Suspects accused in shooting of Mount Vernon Police officer to appear

(MOUNT VERNON, WA.) -- Two suspects who were taken into custody in connection with two shootings incidents on Dec. 15 - one of which badly injured Mount Vernon police officer Mike McClaughry - are set to appear in court today.

Wash. Attorney General Ferguson Files Lawsuit Against Nationís Largest Student-Loan Servicer Alleging Multiple Counts of Deceptive Student Loan Lending

January 19, 2017

(OLYMPIA, WA.) -- Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed a lawsuit Wednesday against student loan servicer Navient Corporation, an offshoot of education-finance giant Sallie Mae.

In addition, Ferguson also announced his agency-request Student Loan Bill of Rights legislation, introduced this session, to provide more resources for students and establish standards for student loan servicers like Navient.
