Actually the thing was called the Maine Mutant or alternately the Turner Beast in honor of Turner, Maine where evidently the beast was spotted many times.

It was an unknown creature that, for about fifteen years, was roaming around the woods of Maine killing off livestock as well as some pretty good sized dogs, like Dobermans.
