 (MONROE, WA) -- It is not good news this year for Monroe schools when it comes to the infamous WASL tests. That is the test Washington schools use to comply with the federal “No Child Left Behind” act, which was designed to measure school achievement and hold schools accountable.

| MONROE MAN LOSES LIFE ON HIGHWAY 2

 (U.S. HIGHWAY 2) -- A Monroe man died last Friday evening in the latest fatal accident to occur on U.S. Highway 2 in the Sky Valley. Like many others in the past, this accident also occurred at the infamous junction of Highway 2 and Fern Bluff road.

| 27 MONTH SENTENCE IN KILLING OF MONROE MAN

 (EVERETT, WA) -- In a Snohomish County court room yesterday the laws of Washington state decided what a Monroe man’s life was worth: twenty-four months in prison for the man who’s fist delivered the fatal blow that ended a man’s life. County Superior Court Judge Michael Downes sentenced 30-year old Jesse Bullington to two years in prison for throwing the punch last February 26th that led to the death of Monroe motel manager Kenneth Wolfe in the parking lot of the motel Wolfe managed.

| HOME INVADER IN MONROE GETS DOUBLE TEAMED

 (MONROE, WA) -- A home intruder bit off more than he could chew in two Monroe homeowners late last week and it may be a cold day in January before he attempts a similar crime. The homeowners not only fought off the armed intruder they seriously injured him in the pitched battle and sent him to the hospital in serious condition.
