SUPPORT THE 2010 CALIFORNIA TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE PROTECTION ACT
January 03, 2010
There is an insidious disease that has been eating away at the traditional American family for decades. It is called divorce. It smashes families, brutalizes children and often results in poverty for single mothers and their kids.
You can do something about this cancer gnawing at the traditional family by supporting the 2010 California Marriage Protection Act which will outlaw divorce once and for all in California.
And once we’ve outlawed divorce in the biggest, most nasty and most divorcious state in the union, it will be a cakewalk to get it outlawed in the other states.
Remember, it says inThe Bible that divorce is a major sin!

YO JOE, DO YOU BE ZYDECO? (Redux)
December 10, 2009
One more time for Lisa Haley & the Zydecats, prognosticators of Cajun Zyedco music all across the planet. What can we say? We’re suckers for Lisa & The Cats.
They’re a great live act (if you like Zydeco and the various permutations of Cajun music) but for some reason the real electricity this band generates on stage just can’t be captured on video. Odd. Could be a voodoo curse, you never know.
In the past we’ve seen real live voodoo priests casting spells on guys in the Zydecats audience -- guys who looked like government men, secret agent types that were taking notes on the Zydecats and talking pictures of the band with those tiny little Minox spy cameras. (They looked like scoundrels of the highest order, as government men sometimes do.)
Anyway, sometimes a good spell just bounces off the intended target and splashes onto someone nearby. Voodoo is not an exact science like say, bowling or fly-fishing.
Spell “splash-over” is just one of the occupational hazards you have to accept if you’re going to do serious voodoo. Stuff happens.
In any event, this is another studio performance by the band shot in Portland. It’s a slow tune called “Always Be Your Guide” that has an almost sad Irish ballad feel to it.
If you ever get a chance to see Lisa & Company live, do so. It’s a sweet treat.

IN THE JUNGLE THE QUIET JUNGLE THE JAGUAR DOES NOT SLEEP TONIGHT
December 02, 2009
Interesting footage shot in Pantanal, the center of Brazil of a jaguar stalking, then silently waiting, waiting, waiting until the right time to strike and take home a huge (twice the size of the jaguar) capybara for lunch.
A capybara looks a lot like a super-sized guinea pig. What they are is a large semi-aquatic rodent native to tropical South America.
They are sometimes regarded as pests, due to their tendency to destroy vegetable crops, and some people also hunt them for food (they’re said to taste a little like pork).
They spend most of their lives in or around the water, and are quite athletic swimmers and divers (which is why they are sometimes called water hogs).
An adult capybara can stay underwater as long as five minutes and they have been known to sleep underwater, keeping their nostrils just above the surface like crocodiles.
A full-grown capybara can reach a length of four feet, making it the largest rodent on the planet.
Among the things fascinating about this footage is, watch how close the jaguar gets to the capybaras and they never once smell or otherwise sense the jaguar’s presence until it is too late. Jaguars are good hunters.
The audio on this video is in Spanish.
