RAGING MONTANA FIRE

November 14, 2008

(MONTANA) -- Not a video, just a very interesting picture of mother nature. You won't see many snapshots like this one. This is a photo uploaded to a website by Montana resident Macy Goode. The image is of the 2007 Chippy Creek Fire in Montana. The picture was taken at her husband's family ranch in Nirada.

FASTEST GUN IN THE WEST. DON'T BLINK.

November 13, 2008

This will stun you. This man is the truly the fastest gun in the West, or at least the fastest man you'll ever see drawing and shooting a Colt single action army revolver -- the gun most associated with wild west gunslingers and outlaws from the late 1800's.

A "single action" is a revolver that you have to pull the hammer back to cock every time you fire as opposed to a modern double-action revolver where all you do is pull the trigger and the hammer cocks itself. That is why you'll see Fast Draw McGraw here quickly hitting the top of the gun with his left hand. What he is doing is cocking the gun for every shot or "fanning the hammer" as gunslingers say.

The fact this guy can draw this fast and shoot this accurately with a single action Colt revolver is nothing short of amazing. Anyone who thinks an old west revolver is not a formidable weapon in qualified hands in this age of exotic 19-round 9mm semi-autos needs to see this video.

THE SUICIDE MONKEY

November 13, 2008

Fascinating footage. This crazy monkey is spending his afternoon actually taunting two tigers, daring them to catch him. You talk about a small monkey with some big brass ones. This little guy is just way too much fer tee-vee.

JACK THE RIPPER: A MYSTERY THAT ENDURES - PART 1

November 10, 2008

Interesting and well done video on the history of the infamous Jack The Ripper murders some 109 years ago in London.

As the London Times now says in the year 2008 "One may search the ghastliest efforts of fiction and fail to find anything to surpass these crimes in diabolical audacity. Nothing in fact or fiction equals these outrages in their horrible nature and in the effect which they have produced upon the popular imagination."

(Well, that's not quite true these days but it makes for lively reading). Not recommended for younger viewers even though this is tame compared to TV and video game standards these days.
