THE SECRET TO STONEHENGE AND THE GREAT PYRAMIDS?
March 27, 2009
This will amaze you. For hundreds if not thousands of years humankind (particularly engineer types) has been trying to figure out how “primitive people” could build huge structures such as Stonehenge and the pyramids out of stone blocks weighing tons when they had no cranes, forklifts or other modern methods to move around and stack that kind of monsterous weight.
Now along comes a guy - a retired construction worker, not a man of scientific letters - and shows us all how relatively easy it is for one man using primitive tools to move around tons and tons of weight.
What Wally Wallington of Flint, Michigan does is nothing short of amazing. You’ll realize after watching him, perhaps for the first time, how easy (sort of) it would have been for the ancients to raise Stonehenge and the great pyramids of Egypt and Mexico with very small work crews -- not the thousands we’ve been led to believe by archaeologists would have been needed for such feats of engineering. Wally is a stone cold natural born genius. CLICK READ MORE to bring up the video player.
PART 1. AMERICA’S FINANCIAL MELTDOWN: HOW WE GOT HERE
March 24, 2009
This video (part 1 of a several part show) is one of the most comprehensive reports you’ll ever see on America’s current economic crisis/nightmare and how it ties into to our staggering national debt.
This piece is a new PBS produced “Frontline” documentary. In the words of the show’s promo piece it “traces the politics behind this mounting debt and investigates what some say is a looming crisis that makes the current financial situation pale in comparison.”
If you liked Part 1 and wish to see parts 2 through the end of the documentary you'll need to go to Frontline's site here: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/tentrillion/view/#morelink due to technical difficulties.
Few Americans have a full appreciation of what a huge “perfect storm” nightmare President Obama inherited from the Bush administration (the first administration in thirty years to take office with a budget suprlus only to squander it and plunge the country deep, deep and deeper into massive and unsustainable debt) or why the government is stuck now in the counterintuitive paradox of having to run up huge additional deficit spending in the short term in order to get the country back on track for reductions in long term deficits.
"That's the paradox of the situation that we're in now," observes Matt Miller, author of The Tyranny of Dead Ideas. "Government has got to run big deficits to stimulate the economy, deficits that would have been unthinkable ... because government's the only entity with the wherewithal to prop up a demand in the economy when businesses and consumers are all pulling back."
The story starts as FRONTLINE takes us to a secret location: the U.S. Treasury's debt auction room where the U.S. government sells securities backed by the "full faith and credit of the United States."
And why is the government selling this stuff? To borrow money, of course. Our government has been borrowing money for a long time in order to finance the way we live. For decades we’ve been living on borrowed money and time. And our time ran out in September of 2008. CLICK THE WORDS READ MORE to bring up the video player.
THE DEVICE THAT GIVES YOU A "SIXTH SENSE"
March 24, 2009
This video will knock your socks off if you're into technology and where it's headed. Turns out that a team of folks at MIT have been working on a new concept that merges cell phones, databases, the Internet, bar codes, cameras, touch-technology and who knows what else into something utterly amazing that will eventually expand the borders of human knowledge light years beyond what we have now. The military applications alone of this thing are mind blowing.
This technology also takes the concept of instant information to a whole new level. Once this thing goes mainstream with consumers, the concept of a human being "knowing" his or her surroundings will never be the same. Stunning work, Congrats to the MIT staff. Next time you're in town guys, lunch is on us. CLICK READ MORE to bring up the video player
MOST IMPORTANT PHOTO EVER TAKEN?
March 20, 2009
Don’t know if that’s true or not but it is an interesting image and certainly puts into perspective the concept of 47 Billion light years. It’s an image taken by the Hubble space telescope way out in (where else?) deep space. (By the way, ain’t it odd the Hubble scope has been out there in inky black space for years taking a buzilllion photos of deep space and stars and planets from every angle and never once captured an image of a flying saucer?)
The guy who narrates this piece has an almost hypnotic, shrink like voice. We went into a trance state three times listening to his voice while we were getting this piece ready. And then the vivid nightmares started happening and then the day time visions and then….oh well you’re not interested in our problems. You’ve got your own. |IS THERE A DEER IN THE HOUSE?|
March 19, 2009
There are few things cuter than a baby deer, unless it’s a baby deer that comes and goes in your kitchen as it pleases. “Baby”, a wild deer has adopted a family in Michigan. It comes and goes as she pleases, often stepping inside their kitchen to feast on goat milk and other snacks. Click READ MORE to bring up the video player.
