(NATIONAL) -- As consumers and businesses ratcheted back spending the United States economy continued its free fall into a steep recession at a stunning 6.2 percent pace at the end of 2008, the worst showing in a quarter of a century.

(DETROIT, MI) -- General Motors Corporation, already on life support with over $13 Billion dollars in taxpayer money, reported a $9.6 Billion dollar 4th quarter 2008 loss amidst reports that CEO Rick Wagner will go back to the government well once again in an effort to obtain more cash in order to last through the year.

(LOS ANGELES, CA) -- “Slum Dog Millionaire”, the little movie that virtually none of the big studios wanted to touch not long ago swept the 81st Annual Motion Picture Academy Awards last night wining a stunning 8 Oscars including statuettes for best picture, director, adapted screenplay, best song and best score.
