160 COUNTY JOBS TO BE ELIMINATED BY NEW 2009 BUDGET CONSTRAINTS

(EVERETT, WA) -- In yet another nod to how serous things have become in the local economy, in front of a standing room only crowd made up mostly of county employees the Snohomish County Council yesterday approved by a 4-1 vote a 2009 budget that calls for the elimination of 160 county jobs.

MONROE COUNCIL VOTE ON "DANGEROUS" DOG BREEDS:

(MONROE, WA) -- Bowing to vocal dog owners for the time being, the Monroe City Council voted 6-0 last week to approve a dangerous dog ordinance that will not classify after the “2nd strike” certain dogs such as pit bulls and Akitas as “dangerous”.

FACING $21 MILLION BUDGET HOLE COUNTY WANTS EMPLOYEES TO TAKE UNPAID FURLOUGHS

(EVERETT, WA) -- In a stark acknowledgement of the tough economic times the region faces next year the Snohomish County Council is planning to ask county employees to take voluntary ten day furloughs in 2009 to help the county deal with a projected $21 Million dollar budget deficit.

STORM FRONTS MAY BRING MAJOR FLOODING TO SKY VALLEY TODAY

November 12, 2008

(SKY VALLEY) -- The first inkling that heavy rains caused by storm systems were going to cause problems in the Sky Valley and other locations near rivers in Western Washington came just after 6:00 a.m. this morning when the National Weather Service issued flood warnings that projected near 2006 record flood levels in the Skykomish-Snohomish river basin.
