 1. The decision of our judges, inept as they may be, about what the devil a news tip is and what the best news tip of any day of the week or week of the month may be, is final. In event of any dispute, the same applies: the decision of our judges is final. So there. 2. Eligibility: to be eligible to win you have to be breathing and above ground (meaning alive).
You also have to be 18 years or older to win and a legal resident of Washington State (with many apologies to our European readers and those on the east coast of the U.S.).

| RIVER HOUSE BREATHES NEW LIFE IN INDEX

 (INDEX, WA) -- It is not often that a new business opens in a tiny Sky Valley hamlet like Index -- population around 185 hardy souls who slog through hard winters filled with torrents of rain, frigid mountain temperatures, fog, often deep snow and the threat of flooding from the Skykomish River which runs parallel and dangerously close to the historic town.

 Editor's Note: This story originally ran in the Sky Valley Chronicle on March 1, 2010 -- the 100th year anniversary of the Wellington Train Disaster in the Sky Valley
(SKY VALLEY) -- Today marks the 100th year anniversary of one of the worst train disasters in U.S. history and the worst natural disaster (with the greatest number of fatalities) in Washington State history.
And it happened here in the Sky Valley -- up in the east part of the valley past Index and Skykomish and just off to the left of U.S. Highway 2 and back in the woods a ways.
