MOTORCYCLE TRAILS BEING PLANNED AT REITER FOREST

(INDEX, WA) -- On May 27, staffers from he State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) met with motorcycle riders to plan single-track trails in the portion of Reiter Forest identified in the new forest plan for motorized trail development. There was also a recent DNR focus group meeting on the forest that targeted non-motorized trails.

NESTING FALCONS SHUT DOWN CLIMBER’S WALL NEAR LEAVENWORTH

(LEAVENWORTH, WA) — For the second year in a row, a pair of peregrine falcons is nesting on Snow Creek Wall and that has caused a temporary closure of parts of the highly popular rock climbing wall located in the Icicle Valley near Leavenworth.

HAVE A FIRE SAFE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

(REGIONAL) -- Memorial Day weekend has become synonymous with the beginning of summer by celebrating with barbecues, outdoor cooking and camping.

The State Fire Marshal’s office reminds Sky Valley residents to be aware and careful about any activity that could trigger a wildfire.

“It doesn’t take much for a small fire to turn into a large blaze,” says State Fire Marshal Charles Duffy, “Knowing a few fire safety tips will help everyone have a fire safe holiday weekend.”
