HIGHWAY 2 LANE CLOSURES NEAR INDEX START TODAY

September 15, 2008

(INDEX, WA) – Drivers heading over Highway 2 may experience single-lane closures on the busy highway near Index starting today. Construction crews will be working there on a $2.9 Million dollar project making permanent repairs to a segment of the highway that sank about seven feet during major flooding in 2006. Work on the major project is expected to continue through November.

INDEX PROTESTOR STOPS "SHOOT FOR THE TRUTH" EVENT

September 06, 2008

(INDEX, WA) -- A planned "Shoot for the Truth" in Index last Thursday morning, designed to shore up support for reopening the Index Sportsman's Club clay target range, turned into a no-shoot zone when Index resident and city councilman Bob Hubbard showed up as the single protester at the event and refused to leave the field.

HEYBROOK RIDGE SAVED FROM CHAIN SAWS

August 01, 2008

(INDEX, WA) -- Heybrook Ridge, just above Index has been saved from the clear cutter’s chain saws. The Snohomish County Council is scheduled to vote Monday to spend $700,000 in county conservation funds to help buy the 130 acres of mature forest land on Heybrook Ridge to save it from clear-cut logging.
