INDEX VOTERS APPROVE SCHOOL LEVY

(EVERETT, WA) -- In the mail-in ballot special election this week, Everett voters said yes to paying more for emergency medical services, Index voters approved a four year school levy and it appeared, with about a quarter of the votes counted in a light turnout, that Monroe voters were saying no to all three school measures on the ballot.

FIRE COMMISSIONERS IN DISTRICT #28 VOTE TO BE DEBT-FREE

(INDEX, WA) -- For the second time in 2010, Snohomish County Fire District # 28 fire commissioners have paid off a fire district debt early and that means that the small, up valley Fire District is debt free for the first time in over 16 years, according to Michael Fitzgerald, Fire Chief of Snohomish County Fire District # 28.

The district serves Index and the unincorporated areas of Snohomish County around Index.
