MOVIE STAR VAN JOHNSON DEAD AT 92

December 12, 2008

(NYAK, NEW YORK) -- Van Johnson, who rocketed to movie stardom during World War II as MGM's boy-next-door in films such as "A Guy Named Joe" and "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo" and became one of Hollywood’s top box-office draws for the era, died today at the age 92. Johnson died of age-related causes at a senior residence in Nyack, N.Y., according to Wendy Bleiweiss, a close friend.

MEDIA TITAN TRIBUNE COMPANY FILES FOR BANKRUPTCY PROTECTION

(DELAWARE) -- The Tribune Company, the large newspaper and television media conglomerate that publishes The Los Angeles Times and The Chicago Tribune, filed for bankruptcy protection on Monday becoming the first newspaper chain to do so in several decades.

REALTOR ASS'N ACCUSED OF CAMPAIGN VIOLATIONS

(OLYMPIA, WA) -- The Washington State Public Disclosure Commission staff filed a complaint December 3rd against The Washington Association of Realtors alleging the association illegally coordinated campaign spending with unsuccessful Republican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi and state Attorney General Rob McKenna a Republican incumbent who won re-election last month.
