| PLANT & KRAUSS: RASING SAND RAISES BIG GRAMMYS
 February 09, 2009
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss' most unlikely partnership as a duo brought them big rewards last night on the Grammy Awards as the combo of living rock legend in Plant and bluegrass music star (and almost a living legend herself) won large for their amazing "Raising Sand," including record of the year and CD album of the year.
Putting these two together seemed kind of strange to most folks but the album they produced was universally hailed as an artistic milestone for both artists and certainly different than anything either of them had done in the past.
Krauss, by the way, is the most decorated female artist in Grammy history with 26 of them bad boys. Wow. When this lady talks (and sings) the music business listens. Legendary country, pop and blues producer T-Bone Burnett produced the CD album.
Plant and Krauss won a Grammy last year for "Gone Gone Gone” a single from "Raising Sand," and that one brings the total Grammys for that one CD to six. The single was released in time for Grammy contention that year, while the CD album was not.
This VIDEO shows the origins of the project for “Raising Sand” and features cuts of the music from it. CLICK READ MORE to bring up the video player.
