The new, state-of-the-art Snohomish Senior Center will celebrate its one-year anniversary April 7 from 4:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. at the center, located at 506 Fourth Street in Snohomish.

The celebratory event is a public open house that will feature interactive activities, free refreshments and tours of the center, including a cake cutting ceremony.

Snohomish Seniors, which began in 1988 when a group of area seniors gathered in the VFW hall to enjoy the company of others with similar interests, has grown over the years into a vibrant organization that offers more than 45 programs and services including meal programs, health and wellness, educational forums, outreach to shut-ins and social and recreational activities.

Today the center has 600 members aged 40 and older. Kim Mosley is the new executive director of the Center. She took over from the former and first-ever executive director Karen Charnell on Jan. 25.

The most important features of the center are friendship and a sense of extended family. The center is dedicated to promoting the physical, emotional, intellectual and economic well-being of older adults through a variety of activities, services, opportunities for learning, participation, and socializing, both at the center and elsewhere

MEMBERSHIPS FOR AREA SENIORS

Memberships are offered at $30.00 per year for those over the age of 50, though anyone of any age is welcome to participate in activities.

Visit the center on the web at www.snohomishseniorcenter.com or stop by for at the new Senior Center, 506 Fourth Street in Snohomish.
