Here's my response to Obama's declaration of intent in Afghanistan/Pakistan. Kinda' like the elephant in the room that everyone's ignoring. I'm posting it everywhere I can think of and have sent it to my senators and representatives. Can you imagine what might happen if thousands of emails asking this simple question suddenly flooded the Interent?

"President Obama what has changed in Afghanistan that is going to make it possible for you to succeed in your mission against The Taliban when the Soviet Union with 500,000 troops and a shared border were driven out without achieving their objectives"

Whatever you believe in, be part of the solution.

you raise good point but i don't have the answer. you are right, Afghanistan became the Soviet's version of the Vietnam war. sometime i think it is a hopeless quagmire other times i think if our troops are not in there disrupting things at the very least, the Taliban will own that whole country overnight and then will grow like weeds thanks to all that opium trade money they'll own free and clear.

it seems a damned if you do, damned if you don't sort of deal.
