(EVERETT, WA.) -- The Snohomish County Sheriff's office says a 19 year-old Everett man has been arrested for 2nd degree murder as a suspect in the shooting death of a 22-year old Lynnwood, WA man last Saturday night.
"The suspect admitted to being at the location where the vehicle used in the crime had been abandoned," said sheriff's office spokeswoman Shari Ireton. "Following up on leads and witness interviews related to the homicide, detectives now believe there were only two occupants in the suspect vehicle, a female driver and the suspect. It is believed that the suspect, who was in the passenger seat, fired a single shot through the closed window, striking and killing the victim at the 16100 block of Ash Way in Lynnwood."
The driver and the suspected shooter then fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle at a gas station at the corner of Rucker and 41st Ave in Everett.
Detectives believe that they have located all suspects related to the incident and that the male is the lone shooter.
Identification of the dead man is pending from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner
Early information on the shooting indicated the man was shot during a dispute that Saturday night over a loaned car.
A group of people had gone to that Ash Way address about 9 p.m. Saturday looking for a vehicle that had been loaned to a friend but not returned.
They reportedly found that vehicle, a fight broke out among those who were in it and those who came looking for it and the young man was shot and killed, according to the early reports.
Police were searching for the loaned car, a silver 2006 Honda Pilot, Washington license BFM6750 and several people in it.
The next day that car was located in Everett at 10:20 am. "Following up on a citizen’s report, Everett Police located the vehicle in the 3900 block of Colby," said a sheriff's office statement.
