(SEATTLE, WA.) -- Seattle Police are investigating the crash of a van into a downtown building Thursday that injured six people;

The incident happened just before noon. "Witnesses began calling 911 to report a van had just struck some pedestrians at 5th Avenue and Pine Street," said an SPD statement. "The witnesses told officers the white passenger van was traveling southbound along 5th Avenue when it veered onto the sidewalk on the east side of the street. The van then struck four people, hit a building and threw glass onto a fifth person."

Seattle fire department medics and private ambulances took the five people to the hospital with injuries ranging from serious to minor.

SPD officers talked with the driver who they think suffered from a medical condition just prior to the crash.

Medics took the driver to the hospital for evaluation of minor injuries.
