December 26, 2017

(COWLITZ COUNTY, WA.) -- The Washington State Patrol says an Aerial, Washington man lost his life Christmas day when he lost control of his vehicle on an icy roadway.

The accident happened Monday afternoon about 12:40 pm on State Route 503 about eight miles east of Woodland, Washington.

The patrol report says a red Dodge Ram pickup truck was southbound on SR503 when the driver "lost control on the icy roadway," slid off the road to the right and went down an embankment and smashed into a tree totaling the truck.

The driver, identified as 69-year old James F. Keavney of Aerial was deceased at the scene. The patrol report says he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Cause of the accident is listed as "speed too fast for conditions."
